Safety tips
Most people on Oye Buddy are here to meet someone nice nearby. These habits keep it that way.
Before you meet
- Chat in the app first. Keep your phone number and social handles private until you trust someone.
- Video call before meeting if you can. Real people are happy to.
- Never send money, gifts, OTPs, or UPI or bank details, no matter the story.
When you meet
- Meet in a busy public place: a café, a mall, a park in daylight.
- Tell a friend where you are going and who you are meeting. Share your live location with them, not with your date.
- Arrange your own transport there and back.
- Stay in control of your drink and your belongings.
- If something feels off, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
In the app
- Your exact location is never shown. Others see an approximate distance only, and shared pins are rounded.
- Use Block to stop all contact instantly. Use Report if someone is abusive, fake, underage, or asks for money.
In an emergency
Call 112 (India emergency number). Women can also call the 181 women helpline. For cyber crime, call 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in.
